Having an accurate understanding of the weight of the Arctic Char that are harvested is important for tracking harvest and for understanding how biological parameters may be changing over time as a result of exploitation and/or climactic and environmental changes. Unfortunately, most fish enter the processing plants as dressed (gills and viscera removed) and therefore conversion factors have to be applied to reconcile whole (round) weight from dressed weight. Here, we provide an updated conversion factor based on linear regression for Arctic Char from the Halokvik River (locally known as 30 Mile) near the community of Cambridge Bay. This conversion factor can be used moving forward as the Halokvik River continues to be commercially harvested. Les pêches commerciales et exploratoires de l’omble chevalier (Salvelinus alpinus) sont source d’importantes retombées économiques pour les Nunavummiuts dans plusieurs communautés du Nunavut. Il est important d’avoir une idée précise du poids de l’omble chevalier récolté afin de pouvoir suivre les prises et comprendre de quelle façon les paramètres biologiques peuvent évoluer dans le temps en raison de l’exploitation et des changements climatiques et environnementaux. Malheureusement, la plupart des poissons entrent dans les usines de transformation déjà apprêtés (branchies et viscères enlevés); des facteurs de conversion doivent donc être appliqués pour déterminer le poids entier (brut) d'après le poids apprêté. Ici, nous fournissons un facteur de conversion actualisé basé sur la régression linéaire pour l’omble chevalier de la rivière Halokvik (connue localement sous le nom de 30 Mile), près de la communauté de Cambridge Bay. Ce facteur de conversion pourra être utilisé à l’avenir, car la rivière Halokvik continue d’être exploitée commercialement.
