It is developed within the framework of Canada’s National Terrestrial Ecosystem Monitoring System (NTEMS). This dataset identifies areas that remained treed, transitioned to treed (newly treed), or transitioned to other cover that is not treed vegetation (was-treed). The data enable national and regional assessments of long-term changes in treed area, capturing trends in treed area, post-disturbance recovery, and shifts in forest extent. (Hermosilla et al. 2025) Ce jeu de données fournit des informations sur la dynamique des zones arborées à travers les 650 millions d'hectares d'écosystèmes forestiers du Canada entre 1984 et 2022, dérivées des couches annuelles de couverture terrestre basées sur les images Landsat, avec une résolution spatiale de 30 mètres. Il a été développé dans le cadre du Système national de surveillance des écosystèmes terrestres (NTEMS) du Canada. Ce jeu de données identifie les zones qui sont restées arborées, celles qui sont devenues arborées (nouvelles zones arborées) et celles qui ont été converties en une autre couverture non arborée (zones anciennement arborées).
