Flights are conducted during clear visibility conditions, typically towards the end of June or early July. Observations are timed to optimize visibility of spruce budworm feeding characterized by reddening of current year needles on spruce and fir as they dry out. Although budworm feeding is often the focus, all types of disturbance are recorded. Polygons indicate the disturbances observed during the aerial survey. Wherever possible, the cause of the damage is reported from the air and ground surveys are used to confirmed agent if the stand is accessible. Les lignes indiquent la trajectoire de vol approximative parcourue pendant les levés aériens des forêts du N.-B. dans le but d’analyser les organismes nuisibles, maladies et perturbations abiotiques. On effectue les vols dans des conditions de bonne visibilité, en général vers la fin juin ou début juillet. On prévoit les observations de façon à optimiser la visibilité de la tordeuse des bourgeons de l'épinette qui se nourrit, ce qui se caractérise par le rougissement des aiguilles de l’année en cours sur les épinettes et sapins qui s’assèchent.Bien qu’on mette souvent l’accent sur la tordeuse qui se nourrit, on enregistre tous les types de perturbations.
