This product is derived from the Atlas of Canada's bilingual wall map "The Circumpolar Region - North" (MCR 0001). To limit the impact of aliasing of the annotation we rendered the map into two tiled web services with a service showing the 'base' information and the other the 'annotation.' Combined the two services more or less replicate the wall map online. In addition to the tiled services, the mxd and geodatabase in FGDB format are available for download. Note: Since the geodatabase was derived from a cartographic product not all features have attribute information even though they are labelled on the map. The map uses the azimuthal equidistant projection. Displayed on the map are the international boundaries, as well as the Canadian provincial and territorial boundaries, all current to 2014. Also shown are national capital cities, other cities, towns, villages and hamlets along with some seasonally populated places. The map identifies a number of significant northern features, including the median sea ice extent from September 1981 to 2010, the tree line, undersea relief, land relief, glaciers, ice fields and coastal ice shelves. Labelled are many of the physiographic and hydrographic features. Carte illustrant la géographie de la région circumpolaire nord, au nord des environs du 55e parallèle nord. Ce produit dérivé de la carte murale bilingue de l’Atlas du Canada intitulée « La région circumpolaire - Nord » (MCR 0001). Afin de limiter le crénelage de l’annotation, nous avons divisé la carte en deux services cartographiques Web tuilés, le premier montrant les informations « de base », et l’autre illustrant l’annotation. Réunis, les deux services reproduisent en partie la carte murale afin de l’offrir en ligne. Outre les services Web, il est possible de télécharger les fichiers MXD et la base de données géographiques en format FGDB. Remarque : puisque la base de données géographiques est dérivée d’un produit cartographique, les renseignements sur les attributs ne sont pas fournis pour toutes les entités et ce, même si ces dernières sont affichées sur la carte. La carte utilise la projection azimutale équidistante. La carte montre les frontières internationales, ainsi que les frontières provinciales et territoriales canadiennes, en date de 2014. Elle présente aussi les capitales nationales, d’autres villes, municipalités, villages et hameaux ainsi que certains lieux habités de façon saisonnière. La carte montre un certain nombre d’entités nordiques importantes, y compris la médiane de la concentration des glaces de septembre 1981 à 2010, la limite forestière, la topographie sous-marine, la topographie de surface, les champs de glace et les plateaux de glace côtiers.
