This layer demonstrates the location and/or extend of current alerts due to rainfall induced overland flooding. The types are defined below:Overland Flood Warning: A severe weather warning that is issued to alert the public that overland flooding is imminent or occurring in the warned area. Overland flooding is a quick onset of flood conditions, usually occurring after heavy rain that may not be linked to a specific waterway or lake. Rainfall intensity and duration, topography, soil conditions and ground cover are factors impacting overland flooding. Overland flooding can also occur because of a sudden release of water held by an ice jam.Overland Flood Watch: A severe weather watch that is issued when conditions are favourable for overland flooding. Normally issued when significant rainfall is expected in locations with saturated soil. Alertes d'inondations terrestres provoquées par les conditions météorologiques actuelles Le Centre de prévisions hydrologiques (HFC) émet plusieurs catégories d'alertes d'inondation tout au long de l'année, notamment les inondations fluviales dues à la fonte des neiges et aux précipitations, les inondations du littoral provoquées par le vent et les vagues et l'accumulation de glace, et les inondations de surface provoquées par les pluies. Cette couche montre la localisation et/ou l'étendue des alertes actuelles dues aux inondations de surface provoquées par les pluies. Les types sont définis ci-dessous : Avertissement d'inondation terrestre : Avertissement de temps violent émis pour avertir le public que des inondations sont imminentes ou se produisent dans la zone avertie. Les inondations de surface sont des conditions d'inondation qui apparaissent rapidement, généralement après de fortes pluies qui peuvent ne pas être liées à un cours d'eau ou à un lac en particulier. L'intensité et la durée des précipitations, la topographie, les conditions du sol et la couverture du sol sont des facteurs qui influent sur les inondations terrestres. Des inondations de surface peuvent également survenir à la suite d'un déversement soudain d'eau contenue dans un embâcle.
