Because trapping is done primarily along waterways, RTCs are often defined by watersheds, using height of land (ridges and mountain peaks) as their boundaries. This is the opposite of GMAs which are defined by mountains. Sometimes RTCs are grouped together to form a Group Trapping Concession (in which groups of individual share the right to trap). This may or may not involve the elimination of the component RTC boundaries. The Yukon has 360 RTCs and 13 Group Trapping Concessions. Only Kluane National Park, Kluane Wildlife Sanctuary, and Ddhaw Ghro Habitat Protection are are not covered by RTCs. This data was built using the 1:250,000 National Topographic Data Base (NTDB) as the digitizing base. Comme le piégeage se fait principalement le long des cours d'eau, les RTC sont souvent définis par des bassins versants, en utilisant la hauteur du terrain (crêtes et sommets) comme limites. C'est le contraire des OGM qui sont définis par les montagnes. Parfois, les RTC sont regroupés pour former une concession de piégeage collective (dans laquelle des groupes d'individus se partagent le droit de piéger). Cela peut impliquer ou non l'élimination des limites RTC des composants. Le Yukon compte 360 RTC et 13 concessions de piégeage collectif. Seuls le parc national de Kluane, la réserve faunique de Kluane et la protection de l'habitat de Ddhaw Ghro ne sont pas couverts par les RTC.
