Objectif Depuis 1990, le Ministère des Pêches et des Océans réalise annuellement un relevé multidisciplinaire dans l’estuaire et le nord du golfe du Saint-Laurent selon un protocole normalisé. Dans la région du sud du golfe, ces relevés au chalut de fond sont effectués tous les mois de septembre depuis 1971. Ces missions d’évaluation d’abondance et de biomasse des organismes marins sont une source importante d’information sur l’état des ressources marines. Les objectifs de ces relevés sont multiples: estimer l’abondance et la biomasse des poissons de fond et des invertébrés, préciser leur répartition spatiale et déterminer leurs caractéristiques biologiques; assurer un monitorage de la biodiversité de l’estuaire et du golfe, et finalement, évaluer les conditions environnementales du milieu observées au moment de la réalisation du relevé. Each species is individually represented in the northern Gulf and in the southern Gulf. Input data are from the annual August (North) and September (South) multidisciplinary surveys. Purpose Since 1990, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans has been conducting an annual multidisciplinary survey in the Estuary and northern Gulf of St. Lawrence using a standardized protocol. In the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence, these bottom trawl surveys has been carrying out each September since 1971. These missions are an important source of information about the status of the marine ressources. The objectives of the surveys are multiple: to estimate the abundance and biomass of groundfish and invertebrates, to identify the spatial distribution and biological characteristics of these species, to monitor the biodiversity of the Estuary and Gulf and finally, to describe the environmental conditions observed in the area at the moment of the sampling.
