One hundred and fifty drift camera transects were completed within the ~91 sq-km study region collecting continuous high-definition video with periodic 4K resolution video (provided by a downward facing Blackmagic Production Camera 4K equipped with video lights). A Nikon D800 36.1 megapixel digital still imagery camera (equipped with a studio strobe light) captured seafloor images at ~30s intervals over a maximum 25-minute drift survey period. The camera was triggered by lowering the camera frame within 1 m of the seabed, releasing tension on a trigger weight suspended below the frame. Camera location was tracked using an ultra-short baseline acoustic positioning system (Tracklink 1500HA transceiver with 1505B transponder on the camera frame). Species presence/absence, abundance, and bottom type was recorded manually using PhotoQuad v1.4 software. An average field of view of 0.7 x 0.5 m was determined from a subset of digital still images within which the 10 cm diameter trigger weight was fully in view. Thirty-eight key and common species were described using explicit taxonomic identifiers, while other species were recorded within broader general categories (e.g. unidentified Cnidaria). Identification was made to the lowest possible taxonomic level. Primary bottom-type was defined as the grain size with the most percent coverage for each image/video interval. Financé dans le cadre du Programme stratégique de recherche et d'avis fondés sur l'écosystème (PSRAFE) du MPO, ce relevé benthique couvre plusieurs zones de fond marin adjacentes à l’île Deer et à l’île Campobello, aux îles Wolves et à Grand Manan (Nouveau-Brunswick) sur une période d’étude de deux ans (2016-2017). Cent cinquante transects ont fait l'objet d'un relevé par caméra qu'on laissait dériver dans la région d’étude, dont la superficie est d’environ 91 km2, en recueillant une vidéo continue à haute définition et une vidéo périodique d’une résolution de 4K (fournie par une caméra Blackmagic Production Camera 4K pointée vers le bas et équipée de torches vidéo). Un appareil photographique numérique Nikon D800 de 36,1 mégapixels (équipé d’une lampe stroboscopique de studio) a pris des images du fond marin à des intervalles d’environ 30 s sur une période maximale de 25 minutes de relevé en dérive. L’appareil photographique était déclenché lorsqu’il était descendu moins de 1 m du fond marin, ce qui relâchait la tension sur un poids de déclencheur suspendu sous le châssis. On suivait l’emplacement de l'appareil photographique à l’aide d’un système de positionnement acoustique de base ultra-court (émetteur-récepteur TrackLink 1500HA avec transpondeur 1505B installé sur le châssis de la caméra). La présence et l’absence d’espèces, l’abondance et le type de fond ont été consignés manuellement à l’aide du logiciel PhotoQuad v1.4. Un sous-ensemble d’images fixes numériques dans lequel le poids de déclencheur de 10 cm de diamètre était entièrement visible a permis de déterminer un champ de vision moyen de 0,7 x 0,5 m. Trente-huit espèces clés et courantes ont été décrites à l’aide d’identificateurs taxonomiques explicites, et d’autres espèces ont été enregistrées dans des catégories générales plus vastes (p. ex. cnidaires non identifiés). L’identification a été effectuée au niveau taxonomique le plus bas possible. Le type de fond principal a été défini en fonction de la taille de grain ayant la plus grande couverture en pourcentage pour chaque intervalle image/vidéo.
