Objectif Depuis 1990, le Ministère des Pêches et des Océans réalise annuellement un relevé multidisciplinaire dans l’estuaire et le nord du golfe du Saint-Laurent selon un protocole normalisé. Ces relevés d’évaluation d’abondance et de biomasse des organismes marins sont une source importante d’information sur l’état des ressources marines. Les objectifs de ce relevé sont multiples : estimer l’abondance et la biomasse des poissons de fonds et des invertébrés, préciser leur répartition spatiale et déterminer leurs caractéristiques biologiques; assurer un monitorage de la biodiversité de l’estuaire et du nord du golfe et finalement, évaluer les conditions environnementales du milieu observées au moment de la réalisation du relevé. Purpose Since 1990, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans has been conducting an annual multidisciplinary survey in the Estuary and northern Gulf of St. Lawrence using a standardized protocol. These surveys are an important source of information about the status of the marine ressources. The objectives of the survey are multiple: to estimate the abundance and biomass of groundfish and invertebrates, to identify the spatial distribution and biological characteristics of these species, to monitor the biodiversity of the Estuary and the northern Gulf and finally, to describe the environmental conditions observed in August in the sampling area.
