CCS2022–2024 – CO₂ storage opportunities in Denmark

The dataset comprises geological, geophysical and modelled data related to the assessment and maturation of CO₂ storage opportunities in Denmark. The data were produced within CCS2022–2024, a GEUS project focusing on mapping and assessment of potential CO₂ storage sites in the Danish subsurface. The dataset includes analyses of reservoir properties, storage capacity, injection strategies and geological risks in Danish sedimentary basins. Data have been used to support governmental tasks, research and the development of CCS as a potential climate mitigation solution in Denmark.

Other constraints
The dataset is based on compilation and scientific assessment of geological, geophysical and modelled data from GEUS national databases and collaborations within the CCS2022–2024 project. The dataset may be used with appropriate attribution. It represents a regional to national assessment of CO₂ storage potential and geological risks and is not sufficient as a stand-alone basis for local project design, regulatory approval or final decisions on specific CO₂ storage sites.

Supplemental Information
The dataset was produced as part of the CCS2022–2024 project’s work on assessing and maturing potential CO₂ storage opportunities in Denmark. It represents a scientific and strategic decision-support dataset for assessing storage potential and geological risks in the Danish subsurface. The dataset should not be used as a stand-alone basis for local project design, regulatory approval or final assessment of specific CO₂ storage sites without additional site-specific investigations.

Statement
The dataset has been established through integration and analysis of geological and geophysical data from GEUS national databases, including seismic data, well data and geological models. Data have been further processed through assessment and modelling of CO₂ injection and geological storage, including analyses of reservoir properties, capacity estimates, pressure build-up and potential long-term migration. The dataset has been quality assured through internal and external collaboration and used for assessment of storage potential and geological risks in the Danish subsurface.
