Myndkort Umbrotasvæðið á Reykjanesi / Orthomosaics Reykjanes Eruption
See english text below.

The orthomosaic of the Reykjanes eruption have been created in a collaborative effort between Nátturfræðistofnun Íslands, Landmælingar Íslands, Jarðvísindastofnun and Almannavarnir, as part of the response plan of the Fagradalsfjall eruption of 2021. An eruption started again on August 3, 2022 and officially ended in December 2022. An eruptions started again on the Reykjaness Peninsula on July 10, 2023 and the source was at Litli-Hrútur. The project will continue and new images will be made available and published in Umbrotasjá.
The images are collected with a Hasselblad A6D camera onboard of a plane, and processed with the MicMac and Agisoft photogrammetric software, in order to create Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and orthomosaics. The orthomosaics are available via WMS and in the Umbrotasjá webpage (https://kortasja.lmi.is/mapview/?application=umbrotasja) less than one day after data collection.
The data is updated constantly, or when new information is received during the eruption.
The data collected and processed by the National Land Survey of Iceland, the Icelandic Institute of Natural History and the Institute of Earth Sciences. Based on the work of Pedersen et al., 2022.
