    This is monthly atmospheric forcing data, 1860-2000, run #5, from the NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory's (GFDL) CM2.1 climate model, specifically: GFDL CM2.1, 20C3M (run5) climate of the 20th Century experiment (20C3M) output for IPCC AR4 and US CCSP. In 2004, a new family of GFDL climate models (the CM2.x family) was first used to conduct climate research. The GFDL CM2.x models have become the workhorse model for GFDL's climate research. They are being applied to topics focusing on decadal-to-centennial (deccen) time scale issues (including multi-century control experiments and climate change projections), as well as to seasonal-to-interannual (si) problems, such as El Niño research and experimental forecasts.

Measurements are gathered by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) carried aboard the spacecraft. Data is received from the satellite and processed to level 2 by the Oregon State University (OSU) College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences (COAS). THIS IS AN EXPERIMENTAL PRODUCT: intended strictly for scientific evaluation by professional marine scientists.

    AVHRR Pathfinder Oceans Project seeks to create a long-term, continuous sea surface temperature data series for use in climate research. The Pathfinder SST data begins with historic AVHRR Global Area Coverage SST. This data is re-evaluated and re-calibrated, improving both the accuracy and number of valid SST values (due to improved cloud-masking).

    This Coastal Relief Gridded database provides the first comprehensive view of the US Coastal Zone; one that extends from the coastal state boundaries to as far offshore as the NOS hydrographic data will support a continuous view of the seafloor. In many cases, this seaward limit reaches out to, and in places even beyond the continental slope. The gridded database contains data for the entire coastal zone of the conterminous US, including Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
