The collection is signed by Michèle Benoît and Roger Gratton and was created under an agreement between the City of Montreal and the Quebec Ministry of Cultural Affairs on the enhancement of Old Montreal and Montreal's heritage. Originally published in the 1980s, it was republished in 1991 in the form of fascicles and a bound book. Pignon sur rue summarizes and makes accessible the results of the Macro-Inventory of Montreal neighborhoods, produced between 1978 and 1985.
