The Provincial Sanctuary - Corridor Wildlife dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Provincial Sanctuary - Corridor Wildlife areas in Alberta. Provincial Sanctuary - Corridor Wildlife is area designated for the protection of wildlife within 400 yards corridors of various road centre-lines.

This dataset is produced for the Government of Alberta and is available to the general public. The Alberta Ground Cover Classification Mosaic is a land cover dataset for the province of Alberta. It is a composite of the Alberta Ground Cover Classification (AGCC) created by Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development for the green areas of the province and the Land Cover for Agricultural Regions of Canada, circa 2000 created by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada for the white areas of the province.

The Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Wildlife Management Units in Alberta. WMU is an area of wildlife managed under Wildlife Act, Alberta Regulation 143/79.

The Black Bear Baiting Areas dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Wildlife Management Units where hunting black bears using bait is permitted. The Grizzly Bear Recovery Zone is the geographic extent of Alberta which indicates the intention of the Government of Alberta to recover grizzly bears. The Recovery Zone is also be a priority for attractant management, management of other sources of human-bear conflict, and building public education, awareness, and understanding of grizzly bears and their recovery. The Grizzly Bear Recovery Plan Management Zones dataset contains four layers: Grizzly Bear Core Access Management Area, Grizzly Bear Secondary Access Management Area, Grizzly Bear Habitat Linkage, and Grizzly Bear Support Zone. The Fish and Wildlife Stewardship regional boundaries divides the province into three areas: Northeast, Northwest and South. The areas were created using the existing boundaries of Wildlife Management Units (WMUs). These boundaries are to be used to determine juridiction between each Fish and Wildlife Stewardship Region.

The data represents an assessment of biodiversity risk for the agricultural area of Alberta in 2002. Biodiversity risk refers to the loss of biological diversity, or the variety of plant and animal life in agricultural landscapes. This map, created in ArcGIS, tries to show where biodiversity could be threatened, such as in areas with significant habitat that coincide with areas of greater agricultural economic activity. Biodiversity is believed to affect the overall health of the environment.
