Biotopes are unique combinations of species and their environment. This dataset shows a predicted distribution of marine biotopes in the Barents Sea, based on modeling of species composition, seabed sediments, and oceanographic data.

The data is organized into study areas, giving overview information. A study area contains one or more measurement points, which in turn is (1) a borehole or (2) miniloggers measuring near-surface temperature outside boreholes. Temperature data in boreholes may be temperature series with time (monitoring) or temperature with depth (logs). Near-surface temperature data is temperature series with time only. The database may also hold photographs of study areas (overview) or measurement points (detail).
