Data for seismic surveys prior to 1999 were obtained from National Energy Board (NEB) as points data (end points and bends) in Excel file format with basic information only. The NEB dataset was not comprehensive. Seismic lines coordinates' data for some of the earliest surveys recorded during 1960s and 1970s were recorded in NAD27 and contained location errors. In addition some data were not converted to NAD83 datum currently in use therefore resulting in even larger error. Starting at 1999 seismic lines location data are provided to the Government of Yukon by exploration companies as part of their statutory reporting requirements. This layer is part of the Geological Survey of Canada's earthquake monitoring network. There are some blank fields toward the beginning of the listing, from the time the network was being installed and hence parameters were often unknown. Also, all depths in the table are "fixed" to a depth which is an integer multiple of 5km, according to lowest obtainable residuals and known crustal structure. The number and magnitude of located events are also dependent on the time recorded, as the magnitude threshold lowered as more stations were installed. The larger, potentially damaging earthquakes, however, were likely recorded from the inception of the network as these events produce waves which reach the entire western network. The Geological Survey of Canada (Atlantic and Pacific) has collected marine survey field records on marine expeditions for over 50 years. This release makes available the results of an ongoing effort to scan and convert our inventory of analog marine survey field records (seismic, sidescan and sounder) to digital format. These records were scanned at 300 dpi and converted into JPEG2000 format. Typically, each of these files was between 1 to 2 gbyte in size before compression and compressed by a factor of 10:1. Empirical tests with a number of data sets suggest that there is minimal visual distortion of the scanned data at this level of compression. In this KML file, scanned data are available in a reduced-scale thumbnail format and a compressed full-resolution JPEG2000 format.

This map service provides access to the Geophysical Survey Index datasets shown on the GeoAtlas application. **Please Note – All published Saskatchewan Geological Survey datasets, including those available through the Saskatchewan Mining and Petroleum GeoAtlas, are sourced from the Enterprise GIS Data Warehouse. They are therefore identical and share the same refresh schedule. This map service provides access to the Geophysical Survey Index datasets shown on the GeoAtlas application. It will contain data related to Lithoprobe Lines, NATGAM Spectrometer and Aeromagnetic Survey Indexes data.

The locations of coastal British Columbia offshore oil and gas seismic profiles. There has not been any seismic done in the Queen Charlotte Basin since 1972. There currently exists a moreatorium on Oil and Gas exploration so there are no plans to do any more until the moratorium is lifter. The seismic lines in this data layer are surveys which were done over 45 years ago, in single passes. The attribute data for the polylines refers to interpretations done in 1988, which are still accessible via the web-links.
