This dataset represents a geological map of the pre-Quaternary surface in Denmark, compiled by Håkansson & Pedersen (1992). The map illustrates the geological delineation and extent of pre-Quaternary formations beneath the Quaternary deposits and is based on geological observations, borehole data and previous interpretations. The dataset provides a regional overview of the pre-Quaternary geological surface and its characteristics as a basis for further geological interpretation. Reference: Stenestad, E. 1982: Karst. Varv, 4, pp. 113-119.

The dataset shows the pre-Quaternary surface of Bornholm and illustrates the distribution of pre-Quaternary rock units and geological structures beneath the Quaternary deposits. The map is based on geological interpretations carried out by Helge Gry in 1960 and 1969 and was published in the journal VARV in 1977. The pre-Quaternary geology of Bornholm differs significantly from the rest of Denmark and is characterised by complex fault systems and a combination of crystalline basement and sedimentary rocks. The map represents a historical, synthesised overview of the pre-Quaternary surface and remains an important reference in geological studies.

This dataset represents the pre-Quaternary surface topography of Denmark, including Kattegat, internal waters and the sea around Bornholm. The map provides a paleotopographic relief of the surface that existed prior to deposition of Quaternary sediments, compiled from geological borehole data, seismic surveys and topographic sources. It includes polygons with 25 m contour intervals, a 500 m grid and boundary delineations, usable in combination with a standard elevation model to determine Quaternary cover thickness. The base map was hand-drawn at 1:250,000 scale and forms a nationwide thematic map product. The map is described in DGU map series no. 44, 1994.
