Land Tenure for the Yukon Mining and Lands viewers

  • Categories

Grouping can include up to a maximum of 750 placer claims. All placer claims must be contiguous, i.e. they must be adjoining. Any solitary placer claims that do not share at least one boundary with the placer claims to be grouped cannot be included in the grouping. Distributed from GeoYukon by the Government of Yukon . The Adaptive Management Framework for Yukon placer mining is complemented by traditional knowledge and monitoring of water quality objectives, aquatic health, and economic health. The aquatic health monitoring program is governed by the Aquatic Health Monitoring Protocol. The Protocol describes the locations, timing, frequency and methods employed during sampling, as well as the methods used to analyze sampling data. The Reference Condition Approach (RCA) is the method chosen for assessing the health of freshwater ecosystems in the Yukon. One RCA model was developed for bioassessment based upon benthic macroinvertebrates, and a second model was developed to assess the diversity of fish species. The RCA model for invertebrates relies upon 224 reference sites collected over the period 2004 to 2010 by the University of Western Ontario, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and Yukon G overnment, using the same standard protocol. The invertebrate data set was analyzed at the family level. There are two fundamental steps in the process of developing the predictive model. The first is to classify the reference sites based on their biological characteristics. This requires defining a number of community types based on the taxonomic composition. The second step is to determine a subset of habitat attributes that are associated with those community types. Following this step the number and type of organisms expected to occur at any given site can be determined from habitat attributes. For more information, contact the Yukon Placer Secretariat. The Yukon government amended the Quartz Mining Act and the Placer Mining Actin December 2013, to establish the authority to designate areas where government notification of Class 1 exploration activities is required. Before these amendments to the mining acts and regulation came into effect, prospectors undertaking Class 1 activities were not required to inform government of their work. Class 1 exploration activities generally have low potential to cause adverse environmental effects.A Notification is required if an exploration program is categorized as class 1 (OIC 2003/59 and OIC 2003/64) and located either on settlement land (category A or B) or within a class 1 notification area (OIC 2013/221). This layer show current class 1 exploration program that are allowed to proceed.

  • An archive of 2D regional seismic and long period magnetotelluric data collected during 20 years of work under the LITHOPROBE project. Data are primarily onshore and cover widespread regions of Canada. Available data types include raw digital data, processed sections, and images of final sections, as well as auxiliary information required for analysis of the data.
